School Daze

Don't ring the bell I'm not comin to class
Teachers being preachers how the hell can I pass?
First day of school and I would zone to the rear
With a blind spot view and a one leg chair
10 minutes.... then I'm out like a strike; that's three and a number
Public education is making some students dumber
Ask the teachers, to teach me somethin
Something I can use, because they're teachin me nothin
They're teachin nonsense, teachin total nonsense
Then they wonder why we are so disobedient
I'm not with detention, suspension is a no no
Forget my parents meeting with my teacher I'd rather go solo
I hate that feeling you get when you gotta wake up in the morning
Still kind of sleepy, but I can hear myself yawning
Attitude chippy like a chocolate chip cookie
Why go to school when you can just play hookie?

The Struggle

I walk down the block with my stomach in knots
Broke as a joke, no ends at all
Can't play ball and my Timbs is small
My landlord's a jerk, the water don't work
My little sister twelve and she bought her own skirt
Rather do Kirk than do her homework
Things're twisted, opportunity knocked but I missed it
It's like I'm trapped in a maze walk around in a daze
I won't rest 'til I'm paid or I'm down in my grave
I wanna look tough, but my sneakers is scuffed
I had a little money but it came and it went
Now its either pay the rent or stay in a tent
and all you got up in your pocket is lint, you get the hint?
I ain't gonna front, all I want is to stunt
a pair of blue and yellow dunks and my hundreds in chunks
But, people see me, put they purse to the front
Honeys don't respect when you call 'em collect
and it's 25 cent you can call 'em direct
I find myself losing when I'm trying to win
I don't know where it begins but this is where it could end

Def Poetry: Sarah Kay

My first impression of this poem was that it was a bit strange. But as I listened to it for a second time, it made sense to me. It also turned out to be one of my favorite poems on the show.

Def Poetry: Keith Murray

Keith Murray is one of my favorite rappers because when he raps you feel what he says lyrically. He's one of those rapper who raps with passion. You can see that in his poem. It's his passion that really grasp your attention

Def Poetry: Dan and Dasha

This is one of my favorite poems on thiat came on this show. I found it to be very funny and interesting as well.

Back to the Future Part 4: A chat with the past

I may look young in age, but i got a veteran's mind
It's like I dropped my watch behind me.... I'm ahead of my time
I'm from where we don't have fly cars; our cars fly
Plus the round things stay on the side like frog eyes
I'm from where you see robots on the regular
We on that James Bonds tip nobody uses cellulars
Computers are non existent
Instead we use robots to tell us our daily missions
And everyone and they mama got a gold pot to piss in
The poorest person is a rich bastard in these times
And the richest has what they have multiplied by 3 times
There's all kinds of new gismos and gadgets
Stuff you wouldn't believe; you'll swear it was magic
Well, it's been fun and I would love to stay
But I gotta go back to the future like Michael J.

Poor Man's Poet

Look up in the sky...its a bird, its a plane
I can't catch my thoughts...i'm going insane
I gotta... stay headly....ahead of the game
Brain freeze brings me down to my knees
I feel like I'm out of my sleeve
Full of style but I lost my steez
Lookin for help...someone help me please
Instead I'm getting bullied by the wind & the breeze
Surrounded by snot nosed people...who care's if I sneeze
Bet if I hechoo I won't get a bless you
Guess that's the society we live in
No sympathy, no empathy, no feelings
I gotta pick MYSELF up, be a strong type of fella
And keep the beat going till it turns acapella
